EDWIN is a forward-looking denim brand that combines its Japanese heritage, craftsmanship and expertise with a European contemporary style, vision and attitude. Countercultural music, art and international style movements are the reference points of its creative vision; the brand celebrates everything denim and non-denim, drawing inspiration from everyday life, urban street culture, surf and skate culture, and both traditional and modern denim.
After we had done a thorough job for Carhartt WIP, we were handed a follow-up project in which the previous agency's cost-benefit ratio had got out of hand.
The primary goal was to open-source the e-commerce application, away from the Adobe Commerce licence. The project was also to be migrated out of the Magento Cloud into an autoscaling hosting setup of its own.

From numerous other projects, Cartware GmbH had already gathered considerable experience in open-sourcing the Magento 2 application. A relaunch was not an option; our brief, after all, was to secure profitability.
Thanks to weeks of preparation and extensive testing of the migration routines, we were able to complete the final migration with less than 30 minutes of downtime.
Every goal set by the client and by ourselves was met reliably.

The primary challenge in taking this project over was avoiding downtime during the open-sourcing and the infrastructure migration of a completely unfamiliar project.
A sizeable codebase had to be adopted and improved without putting the conversion rate at risk.

With the Cartware team, the migration of our e-commerce platform was a great success.
From comprehensive consulting through to the technical implementation, every one of our requirements was met. We are very satisfied with the course of the project and with the results achieved.
